Management Accounting Setup.....

Regardless of whether you are new to QuickBooks, a long term user, or are using any other accounting software, you must be able to use it to manage your business, not just your numbers. Every product that we have reviewed appears to do an adequate job of "Tax Accounting" which is fine IF the main focus of your company is to pay the proper amount of income, employment and sales taxes. However, if the reason you are self employed is to provide yourself with a better quality of life, it is our opinion that ALL accounting software must be customized to provide you with the ability to measure your and your company's performance on a more timely, regular basis. We refer to this ability to measure as "Management Accounting".

In QuickBooks, you can expand this report to provide much more detail with just one click of your mouse.

Custom Management setups are available as a replacement, or as a revision.  Custom replacements are $295 - $595 depending on your source of data.  Sources may be hand written or typed, from Excel, or from existing accounting software.  This method creates new history in the replacement and leaves past history in the original source.  A custom revision retains history but because of the time involved, the cost can be two to three times that of a replacement.  The hourly rate is $85.
